For tonight’s Valentine dinner signature dish: peanut butter baked alaska. You can’t get that in your fancy shops.
Just can’t shake the thought that it looks like a frog.

Sounds nice…we had chicken & pancetta patties, baked squash, and lime pie….all courtesy of Mrs. Caple. I had to stay out of the kitchen for fear of putting in my oar!
How did the alaska taste?
How very retro although the peanut butter may be a modern twist!
It all went horribly wrong!
First the blowtorch failed, and we couldn’t get it to refill or light at all.
So, we thought we’d try it under the grill.
After a few minutes, the meringue was scorched and the icecream practically melted.
And getting it out from the grill I made the worst mistake of all. I took it out — using oven gloves — and handed it directly to P. Who took it off me. Without using oven gloves. And burnt his hands before throwing it across the room.
I haven’t seen his hands today, but I don’t think they were too badly hurt.
We moved on to eating chocolate fondue instead.
And that’s why I never cook. Somehow, some way, I always get burned.
