Mickey-taking blogs

There seems to be a bit of a trend of sneering liberal elites taking the massive huge pile of user generated content out there, and mocking it.

It’s puerile, mean-spirited, “imposing your values on others” and frankly, I can’t get enough of it.

A few new sites I’ve added to my RSS aggregator in recent weeks include:

More on Carol Vorderman

Well. I was surprised to hear on the news bulletin the other day that Carol was to quit Countdown… but now, thanks to thoroughlygood, I’ve been pointed at the reason why, and I’m a little conflicted.

£900,000 is an awful lot of money for the job she does, and £90,000 is hardly a salary to be sniffed at. However, I can see that having got to the former, she’d be reluctant to switch to the latter.

Mosaic meme

My creation

An excuse to spend time looking things up on Flickr and seeing where the whim takes you! The meme comes thanks to birthday boy Thermalsatsuma, and some of the photos in mine are… only loosely linked to the keyword.

If you want to play too, type your answer to each of the questions below into a Flickr search. Using only the first page, choose your favorite image, then copy and paste each of the URL’s into the mosaic maker (3 columns, 4 rows). Leave a comment if you play, so i can have a peek.

The questions:

1. What is your first name? (Alex)
2. What is your favorite food? (Chocolate)
3. What high school did you attend? (“Bishop Hereford Bluecoat”)
4. What is your favorite color? (Green)
5. Who is your celebrity crush? (Robert Sean Leonard)
6. Favorite drink? (Coffee)
7. Dream vacation? (Peru)
8. Favorite dessert? (Cheesecake)
9. What do you want to be when you grow up? (Retired)
10. What do you love most in life? (Beards)
11. One word to describe you. (Cluttered)
12. Your Flickr name. (Niles)
